Nunatsiavut Brass Band Workshop in Hopedale

The Nunatsiavut Government and the International Grenfell Association hosted a brass band workshop in Hopedale this past August. Brass instruments from Europe were originally introduced by the Moravian Missionaries arriving in Labrador in the 18th century. The Inuit of Labrador quickly adopted the instruments and learned to play the music of Haydn and Bach.
This workshop aimed to revitalize this tradition and teach the younger generations how to play.
