World Wide Quest's itinerary had originally scheduled to include travel in Newfoundland and Labrador (including Hopedale and the Torngat Mountains) with their final destination as Iqaluit, Nunavut. Due to ice conditions further north the ship, Akademik Ioffe, re-routed south, taking in the additional Nunatsiavut communities of Nain and Rigolet before delivering passengers to the Goose Bay port for disembarkation.

The visitor experience in our Inuit communities included cultural interpretation, nature walks, craft viewing, artisan interaction, guided and unguided community tours and an address by the president of the Nunatsiavut Government.

Noah Nochasak of Nain, along with adventurer Jerry Kobalenko, embarked on a man powered expedition from Nain to Kangiqsualujjuaq this past Winter. As a dream of Noah's, this experience coupled traditional knowledge with modern techniques to successfully navigate ancestral routes linking Nunatsiavut and Nunavik (nothern Quebec).

Documenting their experience, Jerry has written an article featured in Above and Beyond Magazine's July/August 2012 issue. To learn about their epic undertaking, check out the story Expedition 2012 Nain to Kangiqsualujjuaq beginning on page 49.
